One of the evening’s highlights was the live auction, led by auctioneer, Reed Low, who brought his signature energy to the bidding wars over exclusive items such as:

  • An autographed painting of Jim Montgomery created by St. Louis Blues Warrior, Neil Beatty

Honoring Excellence: The 2025 St. Louis Blues Warriors Awards

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2025 Awards, led by Gabe "Pops" Zwilling. These awards recognized not only exceptional players but also individuals who exemplify commitment, resilience, and the Warrior spirit.

🏆 Clayton Keller Comeback Player of the Year – Todd Schafer

A self-proclaimed "accident-prone dummy," Todd fought through multiple injuries—at one point breaking both arms—and even breaking his leg in half in warmups before his first game with the Warriors. After months of recovery, he made an incredible comeback, proving his relentless dedication to the sport and his team.

🏒 Bernie Federko Most Valuable Player – Brandon Morgan

Known for his ruthless competitiveness (even against kindergartners in street hockey), Brandon is a force on the ice. Beyond his goal-scoring abilities, he’s also stepped up as Deputy VP of Hockey Operations, ensuring the continued growth of the organization.

🎯 Board Member of the Year – Steph Hermanson

A newcomer to the board but no stranger to leadership, Steph’s expertise in marketing and social media has been instrumental in elevating the Warriors' presence. Even though Gabe constantly has to apologize for swearing in group chats, she has been a guiding force in the organization’s success.

💙 Don Harvey Commitment Award – Steve Hejna

For over five years, Steve has been the backbone of the Blues Warriors—navigating USA Hockey politics, securing ice time, and ensuring every player feels supported. More importantly, he has been a mentor and advocate for players struggling personally, proving that this organization is truly a family.

🤝 Volunteer of the Year – Buff Burkel

A fierce and fiery Air Force navigator, Buff spends most of her time giving back—whether through motivational speaking, coaching youth hockey, or mentoring future leaders. Her dedication to both the veteran and youth hockey communities embodies the true spirit of service.

📈 Most Improved Player – Dylan "Roadie" Rodewald

Dylan didn’t just improve his game—he completely transformed his life. Overcoming personal struggles, career challenges, and family tragedies, he found a fresh start through the Warriors and their Warrior Wellness Day program. His perseverance is an inspiration to all.

💪 Hustle Award – Jon Armbrister

Jon embodies the "never quit" mentality. Whether in practice, on the ice, or in the locker room, his relentless energy and work ethic set the tone for his teammates.

🌟 Positivity Award – Jason Vanover

Jason brings an infectious enthusiasm and unwavering encouragement to his team, lifting spirits and motivating others no matter the challenge.

🎖 President’s Circle Award – Nathan Laupp

Nathan, as one of the organization’s founding members, has shown deep dedication to the St. Louis Blues Warrior community. His leadership and commitment to the organization have left a lasting impact on players and the program alike.

🧳 Suitcase Award – Andrew Cato

Andrew has been all over the place this season, earning him the Suitcase Award for his commitment despite always being on the move. Cato moved and played for different teams this year and we appreciate him jumping in wherever he was needed.

👑 Captain of the Year – Chris Mauk

A true leader on and off the ice, Chris has exemplified dedication, mentorship, and perseverance, making him a standout among his peers. As the Alpha team captain, we appreciate his leadership to our highest skill level players.
